KP to develop archives, libraries on modern lines: CM’s aide
PESHAWAR: Advisor to CM on Higher Education, Khaleeq-ur-Rehman has said that the provincial government is developing archives and libraries on modern lines to strengthen reading capacity and further progress in education and research in the province.
He expressed these views during a visit to the Directorate of Archives & Libraries here Friday. On this occasion, Director, Archives & Libraries, Zahirullah Khan briefed the Advisor regarding the performance and various libraries in the province.
The Advisor on Higher Education was told that besides the Directorate, currently 14 libraries are operational across the province wherein education and research are going on while four more libraries would be operationalized soon. The new libraries would be opened in Buner, Charsadda and Mansehra.
Mian Khaleeq-ur-Rehman visited different sections of the Directorate of Archives and Libraries and met with students busy in making preparation for the competitive exams of Central Superior Services (CSS) and Provincial Management Services (PMS) and inquired about them regarding facilities available in the Peshawar Directorate Libraries.
The Advisor directed introduction of digital reforms in all libraries and digitalization of all data while exhibiting no negligence in the provision of facilities to readers. He appreciated the efforts of the staff for preservation of previous record through micro-filming and modern scanning and better management system. – APP
