Senate passes resolution to take step for connecting Abbottabad to Hazara Motorway
ISLAMABAD: The Senate on Monday passed a resolution to take necessary steps for the construction of an Interchange and road to connect the Abbottabad city to the Hazara Motorway (M-15).
The resolution was moved by Muhammad Javed Abbasi in the House.

He said the interchange would help facilitate a large population of Abbottabad City as well as tourists and residents of Thandyani, Galiyat, Nathia Gali and Ayubia besides providing quick access to the Pakistan Military Academy.

As many as four private member bills including the Islamabad High Court (Amendment) Bill, 2020, the Islamabad Consumers Protection (Amendment) Bill, 2020, the Anti-Terrorism (Amendment) Bill, 2020 and the Pakistan Penal Code (Amendment) Bill, 2020 were introduced in Senate on Monday.

The bills were introduced by Senators Kauda Babar, Manzoor Ahmed and Mian Muhammad Ateeq Shaikh in the House respectively.

Giving the statement of objects and reasons of Islamabad High Court (Amendment) Bill, Kaida Babar said that there was dire need to increase number of judges of IHC from six plus one Chief Justice to ten plus Chief Justice due to increase in pending cases and litigation. Increase in number of judges would help mitigate the miseries of the litigants, he added.

Senator Mian Ateeq while giving statement of object and reasons of Islamabad Consumers Protection (Amendment) Bill, 2020 said that under the bill, penalties and punishments have been categorized for not using cover of goods etc, for not showing price-list, for not preserving and displaying price-list of services.

Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani referred all the bills to the concerned standing committees for detailed deliberation.

Meanwhile, a report of Senate Standing Committee on Petroleum regarding non-installation of Air Mix Plants in Balochistan was also presented in the House.
