Rs84b tenders floated for merged areas’ development: Info Minister
PESHAWAR: Minister for Information, Shaukat Yousafzai that tenders of development projects amounting to Rs. 84 billion have been floated for the uplift of tribal districts. He was addressing All Parties Conference that was convened by Awami National Party at Baacha Khan Markaz here on Tuesday. He said that the lofty objective of bringing peace in tribal areas had been completed due to sacrifices of law enforcers and development works had been started in merged districts. Shaukat said that various projects aiming at uplift of tribal districts had been initiated that would bring positive change in lifestyle of tribal people. He said that Sehat Insaf Cards had been given to all the families residing in tribal districts while loans of one billion rupees had been disbursed among tribal youth. Recalling the achievements of government, he said that courts had been established in merged areas and levies and Khasadar force have been merged in police aiming at facilitation of people. Info minister said that government wants to hold local body elections in province and tribal areas simultaneously, adding the announcement of date and schedule is the responsibility of the election commission. Useless criticism would serve nothing; he said and added that each and every citizen should collectively work for the welfare and progress of the country. He also urged masses to fully participate anti polio campaign and support efforts of government to eradicate the crippling disease from society. – APP ���������������g��
