Additional 100 mmcfd gas to industries assured
PESHAWAR: Advisor to Chief Minister on Energy and Power, Himayatullah Khan has assured that the government will ensure provision of additional 100 mmcfd natural gas to industries in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He also agreed to devise joint mechanism and modalities for effective use of the surplus natural gas for industrializaiton in the province.
Himayatullah Khan was addressing a meeting at Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry here on Monday. SCCI president Engr Maqsood Anwar Pervez, vice president Abdul Jalil Jan, former president Faiz Muhammad Faizi, former senior vice president, Engr Saad Khan Zahid, provincial secretary energy and power, Muhammad Zubair, KPOGCL CEO Usman Ghani Khattak, KPEZDMC CEO Adeel Salauddin, Naeem Khan, Waseem Sajjad, Mian Javed, Amir Marwat, Shoaib Durrani, Nadeem Anwar, Arbab Sikandar, along with other high officials of departments concerned were present in the meeting.
The advisor said the provincial government is making all out efforts to give boost to industrialization and provision of facilities to investors. He said investors are taking keen interest in making investment in Pakistan, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which is the result of the incumbent government’s good economic policies.
Engr Maqsood Pervez demanded of the government to ensure uninterrupted gas supply to industries and new gas connections to industries under the article 158 of the constitution. He said the new gas connections on RLNG to KP industries is completely unjust in view of KP producing surplus gas.
The advisor admitted that due to locational disadvantage, the KP is much behind in industrial growth as compared to other provinces.
However, he emphasized the government and private sector need to make joint efforts for industrialization in the province. He assured the provincial government will fully materialize its promise to provide additional 100 mmcfd gas to industries.
Himayatullah Khan said the KP has first right to fully utilize natural gas under article 158 of the constitution, so he assured the provincial government will raise effective voice with federal government in this regard.
SCCI chief demanded of the government to issue gas connections to industries on natural gas instead of RLNG in KP.
He hoped the utilization of additional 100 mmcfd natural gas will give boost to industrialisation in the province and stabilize the country’s economy.
He called for taking issue of additional 100 mmcfd gas with federal government effectively in order to early implement this project. – APP
