SCA urges to lift ban export of onion
HYDERABAD: The Sindh Chamber of Agriculture (SCA), a farmers’ lobbying group, has urged the government to lift ban on export of onion.
A meeting of the SCA, chaired by its President Syed Meeran Muhammad Shah at the chamber’s office here, said the production of onion in the country was above the local requirement owing to which allowing the export would prevent the farmers from sustaining financial losses.
“The export will not only benefit the growers but it will also support the foreign exchange reserves,” said Shah.
He asked the government to consult the growers’ bodies like the SCA before taking important decisions about the crops and the agriculture sector generally. – APP
