CM reviews facilities at Quarantine Centre DI Khan

PESHAWAR: The union council which reported the first death in Mardan district was placed under lockdown by authorities for an indefinite period of time.
“Whole of the union council is declared critical, hence complete lockdown of the Union Council Manga is ordered with immediate effect and there shall be no entry and exit,” said a notification from the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Mardan.
A day earlier, KP government confirmed Pakistan’s first two COVID-19 deaths in Mardan and Peshawar.
CM’s Adviser on Information Ajmal Khan Wazir said the first deceased, a 50-year-old patient, had arrived from Saudi Arabia on March 9.
The second patient, a 36-year-old man from Hangu, had arrived in the country from Turkey via Dubai, said Wazir. He was also tested positive Tuesday, he added.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mahmood Khan paid a visit to District D.I.Khan on Thursday where he reviewed the arrangements and facilities being provided in Quarantine Centre at Gomal Medical College recently established for the people coming from Taftan.
Chief Secretary Dr. Kazim Niaz, Secretary Relief Muhammad Abid Majid, Commissioner D.I.Khan and other senior officials also accompanied the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister was given a detailed briefing by Commissioner D.I.Khan and other officials regarding the arrangements made at quarantine center for suspected patients of Corona virus.
The Chief Minister was informed that the center currently has the capacity to accommodate more than 250 suspected patients that can be increased further. Separate rooms have been spared for each and every suspected patient at the center while complete arrangements for preliminary medical tests of the suspected cases have also been ensured.
The CM expressed his satisfaction over the arrangements made at the Quarantine Center and appreciated the efforts of the local administration in this regard.
It was informed on the occasion that special arrangements have been made for the implementation of sanitation protocols and SOPs at the quarantine centre.
