Qaimkhani’s bail plea adjourned till April 14
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Monday adjourned hearing till April 14, on bail petition of former director general parks Karachi Liaqat Qaimkhani in a case pertaining to assets beyond sources of income.
A division bench headed by Chief Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Mohsin Akhter Kiyani conducted hearing on bail petition of Qaimkhani in above case initiated by National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
At the outset of hearing, Qaimkhani’s lawyer pleaded that his client was arrested in October 2019 but a reference was moved against him on January 9, 2020.
NAB prosecutor adopted the stance that the accused was arrested on the directives of chairman NAB and second inquiry was conducted to collect details of assets and sources of income. To a query by the bench, the prosecutor said that the property was owned by the accused, his wife, kids and relatives.
The NAB prosecutor said that his department had collected the tax returns details of Qaimkhani through the website of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), to this the chief justice said that NAB should have sought the details in writing from the FBR.
Justice Kiyani said that the NAB had mentioned 28 property units, out of which only four were owned by Qaimkhani.
He asked the NAB that what was the details of other property, to this the prosecutor said that luxury vehicles and other details were recovered from the accused house. – APP
