QUETTA: Balochistan Government Spokesperson Liaquat Shahwani on Friday urged the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) leaders, on behalf of the provincial government, to postpone their rally scheduled for October 25 in light of recent threat alert issued by the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA). The western province had been subjected to many terrorist attacks recently. As many as 20 security personnel were martyred in terrorist attacks in Ormara and Razmak on October 15. Last week, at least 10 people were injured in a grenade attack on Quetta’s Samungli Road. “We think the PDM leadership should take responsibility to understand the terror threats in the province,” Shahwani said. “When PDM had already postponed its rally in the province thrice out of fear or out of strategic necessity then they should suspend upcoming rally for a bigger cause and for the safety of the people.” The spokesperson added that Balochsitan had seen many terror attacks in the past and recently as well whereas people had just started to come out of that fear and live their lives accordingly.
