PESHAWAR: White house Press Secretary Jane Sackie said that ‘US don’t trust Taliban and ruled out immediate recognition of the group in Afghanistan.
Addressing a news conference, Sackie said that the White House has not yet decided whether to maintain a diplomatic presence in Afghanistan after the withdrawal of troops on 31 August or not. Sackie said, “I want to make it clear that neither the United States nor any of its allies is in a hurry to recognize the Taliban government in Afghanistan.”
The press secretary said that they have worked in coordination with the Taliban during the evacuation process, but said that Kabul is not the only place where Americans have worked in coordination with the rival party.
Talking about the threat of terrorism in Afghanistan, Sackie said that there is threats of terrorism in Afghanistan, claiming that complete withdrawal of US forces from the country will be extremely dangerous. The reiterated the President Biden commitment that Kabul airport attackers will be eliminated soon.
More than 150 persons – including 13 US soldiers were killed – in a series of bombing outside the Hamid Karzai airport on 25 August. US President Joe Biden warned that the next few days could be more dangerous and more terrorist attacks. The Khurasan group of the extremist group ISIS claimed responsibility for the attacks.
Meanwhile, the Taliban have announced its fighters have taken control of parts of Hamid Karzai Airport from US forces but the united states have denied the claim. Bilal Karimi, the Taliban spokesman wrote on Twitter, “US have vacated three key positions in the military section of the Airport which are under the control of Islamic Emirate. Now a small part of the airport is under the foreign troops’ control.” But the United States have denied the claims, saying that they are in full control of Kabul airport.
