PESHAWAR: For the first time in the history of Malakand Division, a female Police Station has been established in Swat district to maintain law and order and resolve the issues faced women on priority bases.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) police department has said that in a statement that the female police station has been established on the special interest of Chief Minister Mahmood Khan. Swat is the home constituency of CM Mahmood. The statement said that the police station will also be helpful in resolving the issues faced by women in a timely manner. The police said that the entire staff of the Women’s Police Station will be women, including its SHO [Station House Police Officer].

Apart from police stations and outposts, approval was also granted to set up police headquarters in Upper Swat and traffic police headquarters in Lower Swat. The police also announced the establishment of eight new checkpoints to maintain law and order situation in the scenic valley. The step was taken after several tourists were looted at gunpoint in different parts of Swat valley. The police have claimed that the accused looters have been arrested and cases have been registered against.
“Now there is an atmosphere of peace in Swat and more check posts and police stations have been set up to keep an effective check,” the Swat District Police Officer said in a statement on Monday. He added that in view of the changing situation in Afghanistan, security arrangements in the district have been strengthened. The DPO claimed that said that on the special instructions of chief minister and Inspector General Moazzam Jah Ansari, the police force is serving the masses in real sense. The DPO said that crimes can be controlled with the cooperation of the people. People should identify suspects so that police can take timely action.”
