PESHAWAR: Deputy head of the Taliban’s political office in Qatar, Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai said that the new Afghan government will be announced in few days which will also include women but will not include the people who remained the part of governments in the past 20 years.
In his interview with BBC Pashto, Stanakzai claimed that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan will form such government which will have complete support in Afghanistan and the international community. Stanakzai maintained, “It will be an inclusive government that will represent every fiction in Afghanistan. It will include educated and pious people.”
Earlier, the Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid in a statement said that the three-day Taliban shura meeting in Kandahar, chaired by their leader Mullah Habibullah Akhundzada, discussed issues relating to the formation of new Afghan government. Mujahid announced that the new government will be announced in a few days.
Stanikzai, however, did not clarify the positions of women in the new setup. Some critics however said that there will be a large number of women in the new government but they will not be on the leading positions. The analysts are of the view that women are being included in the government to get international recognition for the Taliban regime. However, Abbas Stanikzai claimed that the women can become part of the government and can continue working in offices.
The senior Taliban leader said that they believe that the international community will recongise the Taliban regime. He claimed that they have established peace in the war-riddled country after two-decades of struggle. Stanikzai said that the peaceful situation will not only benefit the ordinary Afghans but also regional and global community. “Afghans are united and the world needs to take advantage of this situation and recognize our government.” Stanikzai reiterated that the Taliban wants good relations with America, European countries and Afghanistan’s neighbors.
