Strengthens muscles functions
Human body need adequate amount of potassium for proper muscle function. The presence of this important nutrient in coconut water strengthens muscles functions. It also helps with bone health as one cup of coconut water contains 19.2 milligrams of calcium. Most people absorb very small amounts of calcium, which can lead to bone problems.

Just 100ml of coconut water contains 6mg of magnesium – responsible for many functions including making protein, regulating blood sugar and high blood pressure levels, and managing the functions of muscles and nerves. Health experts also believe that the presence of high number of free radicals increase stress and damages cells and increases the risk of various diseases. Research on animals has found that the antioxidants in coconut water can help protect against free radicals.
Drop in blood sugar
Research on animals has found that coconut water can lower blood sugar level. In a study on diabetic rats, coconut water helped stabilised blood sugar level, however, there is a need for more research to know its impacts on human health. But it has been provided that the magnesium properties of coconut water increase insulin sensitivity and lowers blood sugar level.
Prevent kidney stones
Research has proved that consuming adequate amounts of water eliminates formation of kidney stones. Though plain water plays an important role eliminating kidney stone. In a study on rats in 2018, it was found that coconut water has significantly lowered cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Another study was conducted in 2015 and it was found that drinking coconut water help in lowering blood pressure but there is a need for more research. One of the main reasons for lowering blood pressure is that it has effective potassium content and potassium is a very important ingredient in lowering blood pressure levels.

Health benefits of coconut water also include protection from dehydration. Coconut water contains electrolytes that help keep the body hydrated, so those who are physically active in hot weather should include coconut water in their diet.
