PESHAWAR: The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Waseem Khan has resigned from his post on Wednesday over alleged differences with PCB Chief Ramiz Raja.
“Wasim Khan has resigned from the post of chief executive. The board of governors will now consider the matter today,” said the PCB statement.

Since Ramiz was elected as chairman of the PCB on September 13, this is the third resignation. Earlier, head coaches Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis had resigned from their posts. Raja had announced to change the entire administrative setup of the PCB, saying that 90% of PCB administrative staff should be sacked. There are reports that he wants to keep the authority of the executive post. Sources said that Waseem Khan has resigned after the PCB chief curtailed his power and authority.
The PCB is also considering to introduce the post of “director of cricket” in place of the chief executive, where a former cricketer is likely to be appointed. It expected that the director of commercial and director of the Pakistan Super League will also tender their resignations to the PCB soon.
Wasim Khan, who was appointed chief executive of the Pakistan Cricket Board in 2019, is a Pakistani-born Briton from Mirpur in Pakistan-administered Kashmir. Wasim Khan has played first-class England cricket for Warwickshire, Sussex and Derbyshire, and has been the chief executive of Leicestershire County Cricket Club. That is why former Chairman Ehsan Mani appointed Wasim Khan as the Managing Director to help return of international cricket to Pakistan in 2018. Later, the constitution was amended and he was appointed as the Chief Executive.
