PESHAWAR: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has issued the notification to increase the price of electricity by Rs2.52 per unit at the request of Central Power Purchasing Agency (CCPA).
According to the notification issued by NEPRA, at the request of Central Power Purchase Agency, said that the monthly cost of electricity production has been increased by Rs2.52. According to the notification, the increase will not apply to Karachi electric and lifeline customers.

Last month, on 27 October, NEPRA approved to increase electricity price by Rs2.51 per unit in terms of monthly fuel adjustment. In response to a query from NEPRA officials, the Additional Secretary Power Division had said that the demand for electricity has increased by 7% in September.
The hike in electricity will put billions of rupees extra burden on the consumers.
