PESHAWAR: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has summoned Prime Minister Imran Khan in the Army Public School massacre case.
The three-judge bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed heard the case. During the hearing, the court asked the Attorney General of Pakistan whether the Prime Minister has read the court order. On which the Attorney General said that the court order was not sent to the Prime Minister but he will inform him about it.
The Chief Justice remarked that “huge amount is being spent on the secret intelligence agencies but the result is zero”. The justice Gulzar added, “When it comes to protecting our people our intelligence agencies always fail to deliver.” The chief justice further said that children cannot be left to die in school, actions were taken against watchmen and soldiers but no top official were brought to justice. On which the Attorney General said that there was no finding against the former Army Chief and DG ISI in the inquiry report.
Justice Ejaz-ul-Haq remarked that the agencies should have known that there will be a reaction of the military operation in the tribal areas. Haq said that the most delicate and easy target was the school children. The ongoing negotiations with the TTP were also discussed during the court hearing. Justice Qazi Amin remarked that it is the job of the state to reach and arrest the culprits. The justice said that there are reports that the state is in negotiation with a group.
