PESHAWAR: The interim Foreign Minister of Taliban-led Afghanistan Amir Khan Muttaqi said that there are no anti-Pakistan elements in Afghanistan.
Speaking at the Institute of Strategic Studies (ISS) in Islamabad on Friday, Muttaqi said that after August 15, Afghanistan has been cleared of anti-Pakistan groups. “We’re doing our best to ensure that Afghanistan’s territory isn’t used against anyone, including Pakistan” he said.

Talking about the Pakistan government talks with the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Muttaqi said that progress has been made but the negotiation process takes time. The Afghan Taliban are meditating the talks between TTP and Pakistan government. Currently, the TTP has announced one-month ceasefire and a four-member negotiation committee for peace talks. Muttaqi said the Afghan Taliban will continue to help move the process forward.
The interim foreign minister said that he has requested Islamabad to allow Afghan traders to use Karachi and other ports for trade with the world. He said both the countries have long standing relationship and will work to further strengthen the bilateral ties. He said that Pakistan has always taken special care of the Afghan people.
Amir Khan Muttaqi said that the region has suffered a lot due to the 40 years long Afghan conflict and now it is time to work for peace and prosperity. Talking about the international community demand of all-inclusive government, he said the current Kabul administration includes people from all ethnic groups.
Referring to the suspension of aid to Afghanistan, the foreign minister said that more than 3,000 organisations have stopped aid to Afghanistan. He added that many organisations, including the United States, have stopped humanitarian aid after 15 August. He said that currently, the Taliban are running the country without foreign support. He also alleged that the United States is violating the agreement signed on 29, 2020.
