PESHAWAR: The Awami National Party (ANP) submitted an adjournment motion in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) assembly against the closure of Pak-Afghan trade, asking the government to open crossing points for trade round the clock.
The motion, submitted by the ANP General Secretary and Parliamentary Leader Sardar Hussain Babak, asked the government to restore Pak-Afghan trade immediately. The resolution said that bilateral trade can strengthen the weak economies of both the countries. “This will further strengthen the ties between the two countries and would provide employment and business opportunities to millions of people,” the adjournment motion said.

The notice said that Pakistan and Afghanistan are neighboring countries however the closure of all transport and trade routes will result into “human tragedy”.
The resumption of trade activities between the two countries can play a key role in easing the economic crisis, said the resolution, adding that restoration of trade could eliminate terrorism from the region.
The resolution, submitted by ANP, said that the neighboring countries should take serious steps to restore the brotherly relationship and further strengthen trade ties. “The flourishing trade between the counties will eliminate the economic woes of both the countries and will strengthening people to people contacts,” the resolution said.
