PESHAWAR: The war-ravaged Alingar district of Laghman province is slowly coming back to life after the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan on 15 August.
The 40-year-long war long war has shattered lives and properties of the residents but now they have breathed a sigh of relief with a relative peace. An Alingar resident told Mashriq TV, “Now peace has been restored and people have returned to their routine work. He added that earlier, there was an unending conflict which has taken precious lives and destroyed local businesses.
The decades long civil also took the lives of youth who could lead and serve the country now. 60-year-old Dua Jan, who has lost his young son in the bloody war, said that Afghans should stand united to steer out the country from the current crises. Jan has started a small general store in his village, Niamat Kaly. He said that every effort should be made to protect the Afghan youth from another war. “The war has been going on for the last 40 years in which I have lost my son along with thousands of other Afghans,” Jan said.
Alingar residents said that every home has faced the brunt of war but now there is some peace. They urged the Islamic emirate of Afghanistan to pay special attention to the revival of the district.
