PESHAWAR: Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has called on a differently-bled painting Umer Jaral in Islamabad on Tuesday.
Umer Jaral had expressed his desire to present Prime Minister Imran Khan his self-painted portraits, the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) has reported. The artist is suffering from cerebral palsy. He cannot move his body properly and is confined to a wheelchair.
However, he has specialized in painting which has started at the age of 12. Jaral, 34, has passionately photographed Imran Khan and was very happy when he presented it to the Prime Minister himself. The APP reported that the Prime Minister met him with great warmth and appreciated his painting skills, saying that he is a “symbol of courage and determination” for others.
His father Abdul Rehman has told Urdu News that during his studies, his teacher recognized his painting ability and encouraged him. His father said Jaral had dropped out of school in the eighth grade, saying that he would continue paintings at home. Rehman said that they are trying to arrange an exhibition of his paintings. He said that earlier he would use to paint two or three pictures in a month but now his muscles have tightened and it takes a month and a half to complete a portrait.
