PESHAWAR: The sessions judge, Nowshera, on Wednesday sentenced a rapist to be hanged thrice for the rape and murder of eight-year-old girl.
The convict, identified as Abshar, has raped and killed the innocent girl in the Kaka Sahib Area of district Nowshera on 19 January 2020 while she was on the way to Madrassa from home. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had appointed Senior Public Prosecutor, Malakand, Sangin Shah to pursue the case.

According to the prosecution, one of the eyewitnesses saw that the accused Abshar throwing the victim in water tank in agricultural fields. The tank was constructed to store water for agriculture purposes. The prosecution said that the sister of the victim also testified that Abshar has taken the eight-year-old girl under some pretext.
The convict was apprehended by the family of the victim and was handed over to the local jirga. The jirga had handed over the convict the police. The police had informed that during the investigation, he had confessed to have rapped and killed victim the eight-year-old girl.
On 11 Novembers, The Additional District and Sessions Judge of Model Court, Tufail Ahmed, on Thursday sentenced Yasirullah, the convict in rape and murder of 9-year-old, to 42 years in prison. A fine of Rs500, 000 was also imposed on the convict. The convict had killed the innocent girl and tortured dead-body was recovered from a cemetery.
On 30 November, In a bid to curtail child abuse cases, the provincial cabinet on 30 November approved amendment to the ‘The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Child Protection and Welfare (Amendment) Act 2020’ and allowed death sentence for child abusers but opposed the public execution of the convicts. However, the cabinet rejected the proposal of public execution of the convict. Besides death sentence, the child abuser will also face a fine of up to Rs5 million.
