The National Security Advisor Moeed Yusuf presented National Security Policy 2022-2026 in the meeting. Yusuf briefed the participants on the policy. He said that Pakistan was moving towards a comprehensive national framework aimed at ensuring the safety of Pakistani nationals. “To achieve this goal, the NSA put economic security first as only a strong economy will generate additional resources that will help improve military and human security,” the adviser on national security Moeed Yusuf said.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Imran Khan emphasized that the security of Pakistan is linked with the security of the people. He said Pakistan is ready to face any internal or external threat. On the other hand, Fawad Chaudhry wrote in his tweet after the meeting of the NSC on Monday that “the meeting of the National Security Council today approved the national security policy of the country.”
Reacting to Fawad Chaudhry’s tweet, PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal wrote that PML-N had formulated its security policy in 2014-2018 and achieved effective successes against terrorism.
On December 6, the government announced the drafting the security policy in the history of the country. A meeting of the National Security Committee of Parliament was convened earlier this month in which Dr Yusuf, briefed on the draft National Security Policy.
The opposition had boycotted the meeting of the National Security Committee chaired by Speaker Asad Qaiser. Yusuf had said that for the first time a draft of National Security Policy has been prepared by National Security Division. “Security policy includes security of the country’s economy, food security, military security, water security, economic security, foreign policy, population growth and terrorism,” he had said. The policy will now be presented in the parliament for approval.
