The women said that the city was without electricity for 18 hours and gas supply remained suspended for 14 hours. “We have not cooked or carry out their daily activities for days. Life has become difficult,” the protesters told the media.
The media reports said that negotiations between the administration and the protesters failed as the women protesters refused to clear the highway. Due to the road blockade, there were long queues of vehicles on both sides of the road. The protesters said that the road would remain closed till the Deputy Commissioner provides the assurance that there will be no unscheduled electricity and gas load shedding.
The protesters informed that most of the local population are low-income people who cannot afford LPG cylinders for cooking purpose.
