PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz President and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Shahbaz Sharif, has accused Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government of ‘criminal negligence’ over Murree tragedy.
“The tourists have died in Murree because of administrative “incompetence” and “criminal negligence” of the PTI government,” Sharif said in a statement.

Expressing grief over the deaths of tourists due to severe cold, the PML-N President and Leader of opposition said that the deaths of civilians in vehicles stuck in traffic rush in Murree and Galyat is a tragic incident of administrative ‘incompetence’ and ‘criminal negligence’. “When the government knew that the citizens were trapped in this bitter cold, why no effort was made to rescue them and take them to safe places on time,” Shahbaz Sharif maintained.
The leader of the opposition said that the government was not even capable of managing traffic in Murree and Galyat. Sharif said that the government which cannot save its citizens trapped in rush, how would it get the people out of the mire of inflation and economic crisis. “At least the ministers and their subordinates responsible for this serious criminal negligence and someone should be held responsible for this unjust bloodshed.
The Leader of the Opposition said that the government’s “criminal silence” on Murree tragedy is tantamount to deliberate killing of civilians. Earlier, the Interior Minister Shaikh Rashid Ahmad has confirmed that the situation in Murree has deteriorated due to heavy snowfall and tourist rush as 16 to 19 people were killed in their vehicles due to cold.
According to sources in the control room set up by Punjab government to monitor the situation in Murree, more than 100,000 tourist vehicles entered the city while the power supply in Murree has been cut off since last night because of intense weather situation. Sources said that tourists are stuck in vehicles with children and they do not even have food and drinks.
