PESHAWAR: Test cricketer Yasir Shah has been declared “innocent” in a rape case after the 14-year-old victim retracted her earlier statement, saying that “Shah has nothing to do with the case”.
Thus, his name has been removed from the first information report (FIR) registered at the Shalimar Police Station, Islamabad. The victim said that Shah’s name was added to the report due to “misrepresentation”.

Shah had not commented on the allegations while the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had said in a statement that the board was looking into the allegations against the central contract player.
League spinner Yasir Shah while talking to media said that the issue not maligned his name but has caused a lot of pain. He said that with the grace of Allah now his name has been cleared from all charges and he will focus all attention on the game. Yasir Shah said that he is looking forward to the Australia cricket team visit to Pakistan and expressed the hope that he will be fit for the tournament. The Austrians are scheduled to visit Pakistan in March.
In December 2021, Shah’s friend, Farhan, was booked for allegedly raping the 14-year-old girl. The victim has said that on 14th August, she was going for tuition when Farhan put her in a taxi and took her to his flat where was allegedly raped on gunpoint. Yasir Shah was added to the FIR for allegedly aiding his friend and threatening victim of dire consequences. According to the text of the FIR, Farhan had also made her video and threatened to make it viral if she informed anyone. The rape victim said that Yasir Shah had also warned her that he is an international cricketer and would use his influence against her.
