PESHAWAR: Defense Minister Pervez Khattak on Thursday strongly criticised Prime Minister Imran Khan over the suspension of gas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and “nonelected people around the PM.”
After the criticism of Pervez Khattak, Prime Minister Imran Khan said, “if Pervez Khattak is not satisfied, I will give the government to someone else.”

The meeting of the PTI Parliamentary leaders and allied parties was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister before the key meeting on the mini-budget. The Mutahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) members said that basic necessities should not be taxed. On which Prime Minister assured that he is aware of the peoples’ plight and will not impose tax on basic items.
However, Pervez Khattak strongly criticized finance minister Shaukat Tarin and Hamad Azhar, saying that Azhar has no knowledge of gas and electricity issues. Khattak added that Tarin has also failed to satisfy him during the cabinet meeting regarding the suspension of gas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Khattak was reported as saying that “unelected people have gathering around the prime minister.”
In the meeting, MPA Noor Alam Khan also asked tough questions regarding the autonomy of the state bank of Pakistan. “With the passage of the bill, we will we also give the account details of the security agencies to the IMF,” Khan said. To which the Prime Minister replied that there would be no compromise on the national interest, adding that security of security agencies was the first priority. Noor Alam Khan also criticised the PTI government over inflation and gas and electricity load shedding in KP.
Talking to media after the meeting, Defense Minister Pervez Khattak said that media has made a big issued out the routine discussion party discussion. He added that he is not against the Prime Minister and have full trust in his leadership.
