PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) health department on Friday reported 11 more Omicron cases taking the total number of the new variant cases to 75 in the province.
The report said that five cases have been confirmed in Peshawar, three in Charsadda and one each in Khyber and Mansehra districts. The new victims include 11 men and four women and their ages are between 20 to 40 years.
Test positivity rate climbs to 8.16%.
The National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) confirmed 4,286 new coronavirus cases and four deaths in the preceding 24 hours as the positivity rate climbs to 8.16%. The NCCO said that 52,522 tests were carried out in the country in the last 24 hours of which 4,286 patients were confirmed to have infected with Covid-19. The NCOC said that the condition of 709 patients is critical while 2598 patients have recovered from the deadly virus. So far 1.263mn have recovered from the pandemic. The death toll from Coronavirus has climbed to 29,003, while the number of reported cases has risen to 1,320,120.
According to the latest figures from the National Command and Operations Center, Punjab province has reported 451,408, Sindh 497,153, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 182,100, Balochistan 33,684, Gilgit-Baltistan 10,439, Islamabad 110,597 and 34,739 in Azad Kashmir. The death toll from the virus now crosses 29,00 mark. A total of 13,087 patients have died in Punjab, 7,693 in Sindh, 5,953 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 968 in Islamabad, 367 in Balochistan, 186 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 749 in Azad Kashmir.
Karachi’s positivity ratio climbs to 31pc
The highest positive cases ratio of 35.30% has been reported from Karachi where 8,063 tests were conducted of which 2,846 were diagnosed with coronavirus in the past 24 hours. The government officials say that meeting of the Sindh Covid task force has been called today to discuss the alarming situation after the surge of Covid cases in Pakistan’s major city.
In Rawalpindi, the rate of positive cases of Corona was recorded at 9.94%, in Lahore it was 8.5% and in Islamabad at the positivity ratio was 6.95%. Muzaffarabad reported 11.90% positive case ratio.
Yesterday, the World Health Organization approved two new drugs – Baricitinib and Sotrovimab – against coronavirus after seven trials involving 4,000 patients include Baricitinib and Sotrovimab.
