PESHAWAR: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi termed inflation a ‘major challenge’, saying that the government has no threat from the opposition.
Speaking in the National Assembly, Qureshi said, “We have made difficult decisions in the last few years. We have been hit hard, but now we are steadily moving towards recover.” He said that the World Bank has also acknowledged the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government performance but inflation is ‘major challenge’.

He said that unlike the PML-N government, the PTI HAS achieved 5% growth in a very difficult situation when the world was hit-hard by Covid. He said that the opposition is right that prices of fertilizer have increased but it is still cheap than other countries in Pakistan. The minister added that they will analyze elements responsible for the increased in fertilizer rates.
Speaking on the Rana Shamim case, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that an attempt was made to tarnish the image of Judiciary in Pakistan. He said that that audio tape also became feature on the media and was under discussion for many days but was proved to be ‘fake’.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan has also issued a statement on social media network site Twitter on the economic performance of his government. In a statement issued on Twitter, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that he wanted to congratulate his government on achieving a growth rate of 5.37% in three years.
Khan added that the growth rate has created employment opportunities and increased per capita income. The Prime Minister said that the success of the PTI government’s economic reforms is being recognized at the international level as well. However, the opposition political parties have strongly criticised the government for economic crisis and inflation that has crushed common men.
