PESHAWAR: The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) reported 7963 more Covid-19 cases and 27 deaths in the preceding 24 hours.
The data released by the NCOC shows that 70389 coronavirus tests were conducted across the country in the last 24 hours, out of which 7963 people were confirmed have infected with the deadly virus with a positivity ratio of 11.31%. With new deaths, the death toll from Coronavirus has climbed to 29,219 while the number of affected people has reached 1,410,033.
The NCOC said that 2062 people also recovered from the Coronavirus, after which the number of people recovering from the virus in the country has reached 1276719.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government on 27 January closed 34 more schools after the health department reported Covid-19 cases among students. The officials said high-test number of 14 schools was closed in Peshawar. The KP education department said that there was no plan to close all the private and government education institutions but schools are be bound to vaccinate its 12-year-old students. The KP government has also started special vaccination campaign in 22 districts for this purpose. Similarly, district administration closed four courts in Nowshera after the surface of Covid cases.
The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) has been closed for 10 days in view of increasing cases of Coronavirus case. Additional Registrar UET Peshawar issued a statement, announcing that the Peshawar Campus and Jalozai Campus will remained closed till February 6. The statement said that Covid-19 vaccination is mandatory for all students, faculty members and other staff.
The Pakistan Institute of Medical Science (PIMs) in Islamabad has said that 260 of its staff members, including doctors and nurses, have contracted Coronavirus. The hospital said that Outpatients Department (OPD) services have been reduced. Similarly, the OPD services at Polyclinic Hospital Rawalpindi have been closed till 31 January. The district administrations have also imposed lockdown in different areas of Rawalpindi and Islamabad to stop the further spread of Covid-19.
