PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) has released its annual report saying that terror activities across Pakistan has increased by 56% in 2021.
The report said that a total of 388 people were killed and 606 injured in 294 attacks across. The PICSS added that security personnel and civilian were targeted in Balochistan, Islamabad, Lahore and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The security experts said that the rise in terror activities after the arrival of the Taliban in Afghanistan is a “matter of concern”.

The government claims that after successful operations against terrorists, their sleeper cells make their presence felt by conducting operations from time to time, however, the overall law and order situation in the country is under control.
Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed says that due to the alliance of various Baloch organizations, the incidence of terrorism in Balochistan has increased. He has also warned the terrorists sleeping cells in Islamabad have been reactivated. He also accused the Indian government of fanning terrorism in Pakistan. However, the Indian government has been denying any kind of interference in Balochistan.
The Pakistan Institute of Conflict Studies has said that different groups in Afghanistan have united and are carrying out more systematic attacks inside Pakistan. The institution has said that in Balochistan various banned groups have formed alliances and are conducting operations in a more organized manner.
On 24 January, the Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid said that the government is ready to listen to hardline militant group Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan but they have to accept Pakistan’s law and constitution. Speaking in the Senate, Interior Minister said that the security forces are always ready to eliminate all those challenging the writ of state.
Minister has said that after the Taliban defeated India’s intelligence agency – RAW- in Afghanistan, the agency is now fanning terrorism in Pakistan. Addressing a news conference in Islamabad, the minister said that Pakistan security forces have defeated terrorists and now there are few small groups that will also be eliminated.
