PESHAWAR: The husband of the woman – who was brought Lady Reading hospital with a nail hammered in her head – told the police that no “faith healer” but jinn were responsible for the condition of his “mentally ill” wife.
According to Peshawar police said the couple belongs to Afghanistan.
On February 4, a woman was brought to Lady Reading Hospital for treatment with a nail attached to her head. After her photos went viral on social media, the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) directed an investigation into the tragedy. Initially, all the cameras of the hospital were checked as the hospital data record did not contain any information other than the name and address of the victim.
According to the police, the victim identified herself as Baz Gul on the hospital receipt. The woman allegedly has three children, including two sons and a daughter. The ages of the children are nine years, three years and two years respectively.
Peshawar police said that the staff of Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar was also be questioned in this regard as to why they had not reported the incident to the police on time. According to Peshawar Police CCPO Abbas Ahsan, special teams were formed to investigate the incident and search for the fake faith healer who had hammered nail into her forehead.
Police first reached out to the woman’s relatives, after which the victim’s husband, Ahmed Sabir, was contacted. Her husband said he is from Afghanistan and that the victim was his second wife, with whom he had two sons and a daughter. According to police, the victim’s husband, the woman had a mental problem and had been receiving treatment since 2010.
According to doctor, the woman had told that aamil [faith healer] has nailed her head for the male offspring. However, according to the victim’s husband, “It has nothing to do with the desire of the male offspring. She is mentally and suffering from various thoughts.”
