PESHAWAR: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that Pakistan is one of the few countries facing the worst impacts of the climate change. Khan said that massive forestation is crucial to protect Pakistan against the natural disasters.
He said that the youth should pledge for tree planting across the country. Speaking on the occasion of Scouts Foundation Day, the Prime Minister said that every Pakistani family should plant and take care of at least five trees.

He said that unfortunately the biggest reason for climate change is that people did not care about the world. He claimed that the government has achieved all the tree plantation targets and will complete plantation of 10 billion trees. “It is a proud moment for the country that our efforts are being recognized globally. If we want to save the country for future generations, we have to plant more trees.”
The Prime Minister said that 12 climatic conditions of the country allow us to sow seeds of any fruit on any land.
According to German Watch’s Global Climate Index, Pakistan, 5th largest country in the world in terms of population, is ranked 8th in the list of countries affected by climate change by international organizations. After the Philippines and Haiti, Pakistan is the most affected country in the world by natural disasters due to climatic conditions, German Watch said in a report. The report said that Climate change is causing a loss to Pakistan’s GDP and in 19 years, 173 natural disasters have occurred in Pakistan due to climate change.
Similarly, In the Global Climate Risk list, Pakistan was included in the top five countries affected by climate change. Earlier, Pakistan was ranked eighth in the list. According to experts, in this situation, since Pakistan’s economy is highly dependent on agriculture, it may face a severe economic crisis due to climate change.
