PESHAWAR: Federal Minister for Information Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has decided to file reference in Supreme Court against its “defected” members over floor crossing.
The minister said in series of twitter posts the members who change their loyalties for “economic interests” should be disqualified for life or they should not be allowed to contest election. He said that the Supreme Court will be requested to hear the reference on daily basis to decide the case before voting on no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The Federal Minister further wrote that a reference under Article-186 will be filed in Supreme Court for the interpretation of Article 63-A [disqualification of lawmakers on grounds of defection]. He said that the Supreme Court will be consulted on the legal status of defectors’ votes when they are openly involved in “horse trading” in exchange money.
Fawad Chaudhry had criticised defected members of his party and said that they were elected in 2018 general election because of Imran Khan thus they have no right to violate the party discipline.
Yesterday, a member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Jahangir Tareen group Raja Riaz has said that at least 24 Members of National Assembly (MNAs) are staying at Sindh House Islamabad. Raja Riaz claimed that they have taken shelter in in Sindh House due to fear of attack on Parliament Lodges. Responding to the allegations of “sack of notes” and “horse trading” in Sindh House, Riaz said that they disagree with Imran Khan so they will decide according to their conscience on the no-confidence motion against the prime minister.
He said that they will shift to parliament lodges from Sindh house if Imran Khan Guarantee that members will be free to take decision according to their conscious on the no-trust motion and that there will be police raids on Parliament Lodges. The disgruntled PTI politician further informed that there are also other PTI lawmakers who want to reach Sindh house.
