PESHAWAR: In yet another “targeted attack” in North Waziristan, a young election candidate of the Awami National Party (ANP) Musawir Dawar has been gunned down by unknown persons in Mirali bazaar ahead of Local government elections.
The ANP said that Dawar was targeted by unknown motorcyclists in Mirali bazaar outside the party election office in the broad day light. Daily Mashriq has reported that his uncle, a tribal elder Malik Gul Selah, have also escaped several targeted attacks. The report added that in the past three years, it was 166th targeted attack in North Waziristan.

Dawar was contesting election on general council seat on the Awami National Party ticket from union council Haider Khel. He was an active political activist and remained the spokesperson of “Youth of Waziristan”.
The Awami National Party KP President Aimal Wali Khan has announced protests at district level across the province today against the targeted killing Musawir Dawar. He strongly condemned the murder of another ANP worker and warned the state that law and order situation in the province, including Waziristan, is deteriorating. He said that it is the responsibility of the state and the government to provide security to every citizen.
“The youth was martyred because he stood with progressive and democratic political party,” Aimal Wali Khan said, “the martyrdom of Mussawir Dawar is an attack on the ideology and politics of Awami National Party. It is the responsibility of the government to bring the attackers to justice.”
The Member National Assembly from North Waziristan and Chairman National Democratic Movement (NDM), Mohsin Dawar strongly condemned the murder of ANP election candidate and question the writ of the state. He said that in a twitter post, “The blood of Pashtuns being spilled unabated. Target killings continue despite the presence of security forces in the area.”
