In a jointly-signed statement, Cristiano Ronaldo and his partner Georgina announced on Monday that their newborn twin son has passed away.
Taking to social media the couple revealed that they were expecting twins last October.
The Manchester United forward, while confirming the birth of a baby girl, said “It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away. It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel.”
“Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support. They said,
“We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time.”
The duo have a four-year-old daughter together, while Ronaldo has three other children.
“Your pain is our pain, Cristiano,” Manchester United tweeted. “Sending love and strength to you and the family at this time.”
