The previous government’s law minister Farogh Naseem has refuted the ex-prime minister Imran Khan’s claim that the then law minister had misled him on Justice Qazi Faez Isa case.
“It was Imran Khan who insisted on filing the presidential reference against the Supreme Court judge, Farogh said.
Few days ago the former PM Imran Khan had regretted that filing of reference for the removal of Justice Faez Isa was a “mistake”.
He went on to blame that the then law ministry had misguided his government about the facts of the case.
However it appeared in some sections of the press that “Imran Khan was not interested in pursuing the reference against the SC judge throughout the “witch hunt.”
In a seemingly swift rejoinder to Imran Khan’s claims of being “misled” by the law ministry, Farogh said that summaries like this were sensitive in nature and therefore, they could never be moved “unless and until they were cleared in advance by the prime minister and the president”.
Senator Naseem also claimed that it was the former PM who insisted on moving the reference.
It’s pertinent to mention that the Assets Recovery Unit (ARU) was set up by the prime minister and worked directly under him.
