The Israeli occupation forces on early Tuesday morning conducted major airstrikes in Gaza amid growing tensions in Jerusalem.
Israeli authorities said the strikes were conducted in response to alleged rocket attack from the Palestinian enclave.
As per Israeli media, the projectile crashed into the sea off Tel Aviv.
“One rocket was fired from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory. The rocket was intercepted by the Iron Dome Air Defense System,” the Israeli military said in a statement.
According to Hamas, its fighter used “anti-aircraft defense” to counter the air raids, which caused no casualties, according to witnesses and security sources in Gaza.
Hours later the Israeli air force said it had hit a Hamas weapons manufacturing site in retaliation.
Israel pinned the blame for the rocket attack on Hamas but no resistance organization operating from the enclave claimed responsibility of the attack.
