Following days of protests and violence, the Balochistan government has announced it would form a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe the firing incident during a protest demonstration held against the killing of a driver near Pak-Afghan border in Chagai district.
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo has said the JIT would submit its report after completing thorough investigation.
He said the probing body would be comprised of personnel of various security agencies adding that a judicial commission could be formed if the investigation was not found satisfactory.
The chief minister vowed to punish the culprits so that the family of the deceased are satisfied.
He also promised to compensate the families of the victims and said the chief secretary, additional chief secretary, home secretary, IG police and other officials have already visited the area to look into the matter.
Bizenjo said that the government would compile a report about the incident as soon as possible. He said the injured were being given best medical treatment and if required they would be referred to a hospital in Karachi.
