Former PM Imran Khan has finally opened up about the incident of sloganeering and hooliganism at Masjid-e-Nabawi in Medina after days of silence and attracting ire from opponents.
The PTI chief distanced himself from the actions of, what others called his supporters, saying he could not even imagine doing anything of that sort.
The incident brought shame and embracement as many including religious clergy and intellectuals condemned the move and called for the arrest of those involved in inciting the crowd through their speeches.
Imran was quoted as saying that “I have spoken about Islamophobia at every forum. The reason for doing so is my belief that until you do not love Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), your faith is not complete.”
I cannot think of asking anyone to do sloganeering at that sacred place. Nobody who loves the Prophet (PBUH) can even think of it,” he added.
PM Shehbaz is in Saudi Arabia on a three-day visit, along with a delegation including members of his cabinet Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, Miftah Ismail, Nawabzada Shahzain Bugti, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Khawaja Asif, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Mohsin Dawar and Maulana Tahir Ashrafi, among others.
