Leg-spinner Shadab Khan has returned as Pakistan team’s vice-captain and replaced Usman Qadir in the ODI squad against West Indies.
In a reduced squad post COVID-19 restrictions, Asif Afridi, Asif Ali, Haider Ali and Usman have been dropped from the previous home tour of Australia.
Babar Azam will continue leading the side with Shadab as his deputy. The 16-member squad includes Abdullah Shafique, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imam-ul-Haq, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Haris (wicketkeeper/batter), Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan (wicketkeeper/batter), Mohammad Wasim Junior, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shahnawaz Dahani and Zahid Mahmood.
The squad will assemble in Rawalpindi on 1 June for a training camp and Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Mohammad Rizwan and Shadab Khan, who are presently playing in the English County Championship, will join the squad in time for the practice sessions.
Pakistan and West Indies will play three ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League One-Day Internationals in Rawalpindi on June 8, 10, 12.
