Politics Azadi March: Crackdown on PTI, raids on leaders’ homes and arrests May 24, 2022 Updated 24/05/22 at 8:25 AM Share 2 Min Read SHARE Punjab Police has started a massive crackdown against PTI leaders and workers before the real independence march. Police in various cities of Punjab, including Lahore, raided homes and organizational offices and arrested several activists and leaders. Dozens of PTI Punjab provincial leadership, leaders, local and regional officials have been detained and transferred to an unknown location. Police have raided the homes of former ministers, MPAs and MNAs belonging to PTI. In a statement on the social networking site Twitter, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former Federal Minister for Revenue Hamad Azhar said that the police had reached my house to arrest me. Spokesman Hamad Azhar said that before the real independence march, a heavy contingent of police had reached outside Hamad Azhar’s house and surrounded the house. A spokesman said police were trying to enter Hamad Azhar’s residence. Police have also raided the residence of PTI Lahore Vice President Malik Waqar. On the other hand, Lahore police have also started rounding up PTI workers. PTI leader Yasir Gilani said that PTI worker Jahanzeb Khan has been arrested from Shahdara Faisal Park UC-8 area of Lahore. Punjab Police has also cracked down on PTI workers in Rajanpur district. Senior officials Abid Sukheera, Wajid Sukheera and Imran Sattar Rahmani have been arrested from Rajanpur while former Tehsil Vice President Sherling Mazari from Rojhan has also been arrested. Several workers have been taken into custody.
