LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz said on Saturday that International Monetary Fund (IMF) made it clear to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif that it stopped trusting Pakistan due to former prime minister Imran Khan, who allegedly did not fulfil the commitments the country made to the global lender.
Addressing the election campaign of PP-167 constituency in Lahore’s Green Town, she said that Imran Khan came to power in 2018 by stealing the public mandate and he “emptied the treasury”.
“It is not about Toshakhana but of a habit due to which the treasury of Pakistan is empty today,” she added.
The PML-N leader said that the former premier goes from place to place crying over the overthrowing of his government as if the people gave him Pakistan on a contract so he can continue his plunder.
She said that PML-N got the government during a challenging time and people should continue to believe that her party will take the country out of these testing times.
“Continue your support for PML-N and we will get you out of difficulties. We had to raise prices today but had to do it because of Imran Khan. Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif will make all-out efforts to get you out of these crises.”
Maryam claimed that Nawaz Sharif sheds “tears of blood” when the price of petroleum products are raised. “We had to raise the prices of diesel and petrol with a heavy heart,” she added.
She alleged that former first lady Bushra Bibi’s son Ibrahim Maneka made billions during last four years whereas Farah Gogi, a close friend of Bushra, looted the public money.
