Mardan: Voting concluded for the constituency NA-22 in Mardan. The votes have been casted and counting of the votes will commence soon.
A total of 330 polling stations were established in NA-22 for the successful and peaceful commencement of the elections. Of the 330 polling stations, 98 polling stations were declared sensitive and 232 highly sensitive. 87 polling stations were reserved for men, 80 for women, and 163 were reserved for men and women combined.
Incredible security arrangements were made by Mardan Police for by-elections in NA-22. 4100 police officers and jawans performed duties in polling stations to ensure the safety and security of the voters. Police and other security agencies were also deployed on duty for the Mardan elections. DPO Mardan, Irfanullah Marwat, supervised the deployed personnel.
A complete ban was imposed on the display of weapons and the keeping of private armed guards throughout the district to avoid violence and chaos. The police ensured the use of helmets and jackets on duty.
Imran Khan, Chairman Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf, PDM’s Maulana Muhammad Qasim, Abdul Wasi, leader Jamaat-e-Islami’s and an independent candidate contested for the seat.
