Anti-polio campaign in the provincial capital Peshawar continues. The anti-polio campaigns are conducted under the supervision of district administration in Peshawar.
The administrative officers along with the Health Department are trying their best to persuade parents to vaccinate their children against the polio virus. Many people in the area still refuse to get their children vaccinated for multiple reasons. The primary reason for the refusal is linked to religious misconceptions about the vaccine.
The campaigns focus on persuading parents in different areas of the KP to administer polio drops to their children. Furthermore, Deputy Commissioner Peshawar, Saifullah Khan, appealed to parents to give their children anti-polio drops to protect them from permanent disability.
The people are perplexed about the extra doses of the vaccine in Pakistan as compared to other countries of the world. This confusion leads to a misconception that the vaccine may potentially harm children. People fail to understand that in a tropical country like Pakistan, extra doses of the vaccine are required to protect children from the virus.
Saifullah Khan requested the parents to cooperate with the anti-polio teams so that the polio virus can be eradicated from Peshawar.
Saifullah Khan told the people that only with joint efforts and understanding of the matter, will they be able to eradicate the polio virus from the country and eventually save the children.
