Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Monitoring Authority employees have announced a complete strike from November 1, 2022. The strike will continue until the demands of the employees are accepted.
The authorities have planned that all the employees, including male monitors, female monitors and office staff will go to their district offices daily. The protestors have also decided to tie black bands to their arms and shut the computers off.
No official emails, office letters, and messages shall be entertained by the employees. It was further announced that Class 4 staff would not perform any duties except for guarding the offices. Field duties, including the surveys of flood affected houses, will be completely ceased. The employees will remain in their district offices until further notice.
The phased protest of the employees of the Education Monitoring Authority began in a symbolic manner on September 15th, 2022. All the additional responsibilities were boycotted in October. Despite the passage of one and a half months, the protest ended due to lack of interest in the officers and the employees.
According to the Provincial Coordination Committee (PCC), the strike announcement is irrevocable. The strike will continue until a written approval of the demands is achieved. The committee further said that the strike will turn into a protest if the government fails to meet the demands that employees will take over the streets after November 15th.
The employees demand upgradation based on 5 years of service, change of nomenclature, service structure and payment of unpaid legitimate financial rights.
