Waziristan: The women of Waziristan broke the stereotypes as they went out on the roads in protest. Female students of Government Degree College Wana went out on the roads to demand their educational rights on Tuesday.
The students refused to go home until their demands regarding regulating the functionality of their college were met.
It is for the first time in the history of Waziristan that the women of the area have come out to demand their rights. The women of Wana have been witnessed breaking the barriers and impediments that have been imposed upon them for ages and have raised their voices for educational rights.
The students demanded the suspension of the teachers who remained absent for no apparent reason. They further demanded proper teaching faculty, a principal and basic facilities, such as clean water and laboratories.
With regard to education, the students stated that women too should have equal rights and opportunities as men. They urged the government to visit the college and witness the bizarre situation themselves.
