Peshawar: 4 officials of Ababeel Squad were charged with kidnapping a citizen for ransom in the provincial capital. After identification by the victim, the officials have been immediately detained and an FIR has been registered against the culprits.
SSP Operations, Kashif Aftab Abbasi, stated that the process of self-accountability has always been strictly followed in the police department. Moreover, no compromise shall be made on the rule of law under any circumstance.
The SSP Operations further said that along with registering a case, departmental action has also been initiated against the officials. Protecting the life and property of the citizens is ensured in every case by the police.
Kashif Abbasi affirmed that a special procedure had been adopted in the department to keep track of black sheep. He correspondingly spoke out that around one hundred officials have been dismissed for exceeding their authority in Peshawar this year alone.
Ababeel Squad was launched by the police force in Peshawar in December 2021. It is a patrolling squad that is meant to curb street crime in the provincial capital. The squad in the beginning consisted of 800 specially trained police personnel and 200 customised bikes for continuous patrolling throughout the city.
Ababeel Squad has been equipped with body cameras, drone cameras, modern communication devices, and several other technological gadgets for smart surveillance.
