A rapid increase in crime rates has been reported in the provincial capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the year 2022. Crimes including murders, thefts, robberies and kidnappings have drastically risen.
According to an estimate, 316 people were murdered in the previous year, while 390 people have been killed so far in the current year. The Peshawar Police have released data according to which 169 incidents of robbery were reported in the previous year. Whereas the number has increased to 241 in only 9 months of the current year.
The incidents of theft have increased to 248 during the 9 months of the current year from 163 incidents in the previous year. Moreover, the cases of abduction and kidnapping have also increased. 21 children were abducted from Peshawar last year while 20 children have already been kidnapped in the last 9 months of this year. A prominent increase has been seen in the cases of missing persons. The number has been raised from 12 to 22 this year as compared to the previous year.
Furthermore, 143 vehicles went missing in the previous year. The number has been raised to 189 in the past 9 months of the current year.
