Addressing the change of command ceremony at GHQ, General Qamar Javed Bajwa stated that General Asim Munir is an exceptional officer who is graced by the Almighty with the Holy Quran in his heart. He further said that his appointment would prove good for the country.
Considering his military career, he spoke out that he began his remarkable journey in the army 44 years ago. The voyage has now proceeded toward its end. He also said that laboring for his country while being in the Pakistan military force was an honor for him. Praising the services of the Pakistan army, General Bajwa stated that the army tirelessly protects the country’s geographical borders and upholds the country’s security.
Expressing his admiration and loyalty towards the Pakistan army, the former COAS stated that his spiritual connection with the Pakistan army will always remain even if he vanishes from the picture.
General Qamar Javed Bajwa was the 16th COAS of the Pakistan Army, who, after completing a tenure of 6 years, bid farewell to the military force on November 29, 2022. The command of the army was handed over from General Bajwa to General Asim Munir, the 17th Chief of Army Staff, to hold the charge of the post.

A solemn change of command ceremony was held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) on Tuesday, during which outgoing Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa handed over the baton of command to General Asim Munir.
General Asim Munir participated in the ceremony wearing the shoulder rank and collar medal of a four-star general. Armed forces chiefs, senior civil and military officers, federal ministers, diplomats and journalists participated in the ceremony held at GHQ today.
Commanding as a Quartermaster in GHQ prior to his appointment as the Chief of the Army Staff, General Asim Munir, is a Pakistani four-star ranked general. The holder of the Sword of Honour, General Munir, commanded the XXX Corps for more than 2 years in Gujranwala. Before he was replaced with Lt. Gen. Faiz Hameed on 16 June 2019, General Asim Munir served as the 23rd Director-General of the ISI.
