A Hindu woman was brutally killed in a Deputy village near Sanjhuru town, about 20 km from Sanghar. The barbaric assassination of the woman has raised multiple questions about the extent of barbarity that a human being can go to.
The victim’s son, Somar Chand, who works as a sugarcane cutter for a landowner in the area, had filed an FIR at Sanjhuri police station under section 302.
According to the complainant, he was working in the fields while his mother and younger sister had gone to cut and collect grass on the day of the murder. Later after work, when Chand reached home, he found his sister crying, while there was no trace of his mother.
Upon inquiry, the girl told her brother that they had met their relatives in the fields. Daya, the victim, asked them for help picking the grass. Daya later went to the field to collect another pile of grass but did not return.
Chand, in a panic, went to the fields along with his relatives in search of his mother. The son was devastated when he found the body of his mother near a watercourse in a terrible condition. The victim’s head was beheaded with a sharp instrument. Her body was skinned and her private parts were cut off. The body was shifted to the hospital for post-mortem.
Police have started investigating the matter. DIG Muhammad Younas Chandio stated that the victim didn’t seem to be assassinated because she belonged to a minority community. He suspected that the murder could have been done out of personal enmity or must have been the involvement of some mentally unstable entities.
