Pakistan is to carry out its first digital census in 2023. Nadra has handed over the last batch of 17 thousand 600 machines to the Department of Statistics regarding the upcoming digital census in the country.
The android tablets have been delivered to the Chief Statistician, Dr. Naeem Zafar, ahead of the conduct of the seventh “Digital Census” of the Population and Household Census. More than 100 experts at NADRA have ensured timely hardware assembly and delivery of 21,600 tablets through 40 containers in 9 days to complete the training of more than 90,000 enumerators at 932 different locations.
The Big Data of the Digital Census will become the main evidence-based policy-making system for Pakistan. From responses written on hundreds of thousands of sheets of paper to real-time verified data in apps on devices secured with satellite imagery is a step towards Digital Pakistan.
The special complete digital system for the census includes the development and deployment of an Android-based household census and enumeration-based digital app that is compatible with the Global Positioning System and Geographical Information System. This system will support the Census Bureau of Pakistan in all three phases of the census i.e. pre-census, during the census, and the post-census phases.
